| May 25th, 2008 | Skulls and Stripes Booties |
So the other day I went shopping with my mom and sister at a store near mom’s work that she goes to often and always brings home super cute shoes. The store is called A.J. Wright and it was the first time me and my sister had been there. It’s reminded me a lot of Ross Dress for Less actually. But anyways, I was mostly looking for more shirts to wear to work but also ended up finding some really cute socks. I got two multi-packs of booties, each with one solid white pair, one white with stripes and one striped and skulls. Got them in blues and lavenders. I wore these with my Penguins shirt because the blues looked nice together (it’s a Winter Classic tee in case you’re wondering why a Pens shirt would be blue) but didn’t get pictures till before I was going to sleep when I was already in PJ’s. But here you go… super cute baby blue booties with white stripes and a little skull…
You can also see the rest of the socks that came in the multi-packs on the chair. Posted in Novelty, Other Store, Shorties | No Comments »

| May 13th, 2008 | Lost Sock Discount Order!! |
When Sock Dreams had a sale you just know I had to take advantage of it even though I hadn’t purchased new socks in a while. Who doesn’t love saving money?? You know I do! And it HAD been a while so I was over due. Ended up getting my order a few days later because Sock Dreams is always super speedy when it comes to getting my orders. Just another reason why I love them so much… I always receive everything within a few days of ordering and the shipping is free <3 <3 I took pictures with my camera phone as soon as I opened my package. The lighting was bad so they're not the best of shots but I'm sure they'll be nicer when I actually get around to wearing them and taking new pictures.
I ordered (from left to right, top row first): EG ECO Rugby Striped Crews in Earth Brown, Hosiery Mate Washing Solution, Hand Bones Skeletal Arm Warmers, Feelmax midcalves with colored toes, EG ECO Slinky Knees in Natural, and Striped Top Knee Highs with Skulls and pink stripes. I tried them all on right away of course! Some things I noticed were the first pair’s feet were a little large on me, but I imagine once they’re washed they’ll shrink a little and it’ll be fine. The picture really doesn’t do any of them justice seeing as the colors are a lot brighter in person, but that’s what happens when you don’t have a flash and you have poor lighting. In fact the pink on the striped tubes was a lot brighter than I imagined, but of course they’re still nice and super cushy like the black and white pair which have always been one of my favorites. Also I really like the feeling of the EG ECO styles, recycled yarn rules!! On a side note: You may want to read this recent post at the Sock Dreams’ Sock Journal titled Recycled From What? where they talk more about the EG ECO’s styles and how they make recycled yarn. |

| May 7th, 2008 | New Sock Organization |
Since I have several hundred pairs of socks and am always getting more (even if it’s not quite as often as I used to), I’m always running out of space to put them all. I’m quite the obsessive compulsive when it comes to organizing things, especially clothing items. One day I got an idea for a new way to organize all my Skater Socks. The old way had them folded inside themselves and stuffed into 2 out of three drawers in one of my rolley carts. Skater Socks are thicker, so they really were quite stuffed, and there were still more that couldn’t fit in the drawers. It was becoming a pain to find the colors I wanted to wear especially since they’re all essentially white, or gray, or black socks with different colored stripes on top. Not only that, but the tops of one sock in each pair were getting stretched more than the other from the way they were being folded which is never good if you want your socks to be even when you’re wearing them. But the new idea fixed everything!!
What we have here is a belt circle hanger (from Ross Dress for Less). The socks are all attached with medium sized binder clips (found at office supply stores like Staples) and one side of the clip is straight up and strung through the circle on the hanger. This way I can fit more socks in a lot less space. They’re also organized in rainbow order like much of my other clothes so it’s easy to go right to the pair you’re looking for. On top of that, the clips allow you to remove a pair of socks without having to remove all the socks before them from the ring. You just squeeze the clip, freeing the socks, and saving the space in order for when they’re washed and ready to hang again. Genius idea huh?! What do you think? And in case you were wondering, that’s 30 something pairs of socks in not-a-whole-lot of space! It’s mostly white Skater Socks, although there’s 4 or 5 pairs that are Skater Stripes by Sock Dreams and maybe 5 pairs by Journeys. Plus I’ve since added all the gray Skater Socks that I have (hung a little differently) and the full striped bunch are on a different hanger, but I don’t have pics of that. |
